Background

DSBJ Singapore serves as the overseas headquarters of Suzhou Dongshan Precision Manufacturing Co., Ltd., to spearhead international expansion beyond China. The Singapore office oversees several key functions: 

  • IT Center of Excellence: The data analytics team leverages data analytics and AI to drive smart manufacturing initiatives. The cybersecurity research team oversee, assess and mitigate cybersecurity risks.
  • Research & Development: Focuses on new technologies/processes that would extend and improve existing product portfolios.      
  • Customer Service & Logistics: Provides high-quality service globally.
  • Human Resources: Manages talent recruitment, development, retention, and global payroll shared services.
  • Finance: Oversees financial management, budgeting, and corporate reporting.
  • Marketing: Enhances brand presence through market intelligence collection, industry trend analysis and market strategic planning.
  • Legal: Ensures legal compliance and drives legal risk mitigation for the group.
  • Business Development: Drives revenue growth through identifying and developing new business opportunities in Asia. 
Challenge

Our initial challenge was the absence of a common skills language across the company. This made it difficult for employees at DSBJ to clearly understand the critical skills needed for success in their current roles, explore career development opportunities, and navigate progression pathways across different departments. The lack of visibility and alignment hindered both individual growth and strategic workforce planning.

Solutions

With JobKred, we managed to create a skills library to define what each skill is, with corresponding behavioural indicators to demonstrate how these skills operate and what types of behaviors should be observed at each of the five proficiency levels. Career progression pathways have also been identified for each department and mapped out based on the transferability of skills across job roles.

Employees and Managers are encouraged to use the JobKred platform to discuss career aspirations and for development conversations around building skills for current and future roles.

Results

Since implementing JobKred, we’ve observed stronger employee engagement in career development conversations and a noticeable shift toward skills-based thinking. Employees now have clearer visibility into the skills they need to succeed and the pathways available to grow within DSBJ.
