At CARE Singapore, we believe that every person is useful and has something positive to contribute. Our mission is clear: to help youths succeed. We see at-risk youths not as social liabilities, but as social assets who, with the right support, can transform their futures and impact the world around them. Inspired by Archimedes’ saying, “Give me a fulcrum and I will move the world,” CARE has chosen at-risk youths as our fulcrum for change.
Since our founding in 1997, CARE Singapore has:
Our greatest pride lies in the countless success stories of the young people we serve, and the heartfelt affirmations we receive from students, teachers, parents, and principals.
CARE Singapore offers year-long, comprehensive, preventive, holistic, supportive, and motivational life-skills programmes for Primary and Secondary School students. Our programmes are research-based, field-tested, proven, and cost-effective, designed to make a lasting, positive impact.
Every week, our dedicated team of professional Youth Workers and Counselors meet with students, building rapport and positive relationships that create a safe space for guidance, mentorship, and growth. By being there for those who need a little more support, CARE Singapore remains committed to changing lives—and moving the world—one youth at a time.
One of the initial challenges we faced was developing the competency framework from scratch. Using SSG’s SkillsFuture Skills Framework as a reference, we had to manually extract and adapt the information to identify the industry-relevant skills for each of our job profiles. However, the resulting document is not user-friendly; users may struggle to understand the skills required for career development and to assess their own skills gaps. Its cumbersome format also poses a barrier to promoting self-directed learning, which is a key learning strategy at CARE Singapore.
JobKred’s Lithium platform helped address these challenges by providing an intuitive and structured system for mapping skills to job profiles. Instead of manually extracting and interpreting information, the platform offered ready-to-use, industry-aligned skills data, making it much easier for users to understand the skills needed for career development and assess their own skills gaps. Its user-friendly interface also supports self-directed learning, aligning with CARE Singapore’s learning strategy. Additionally, the platform provides personalized learning recommendations, helping staff identify targeted development opportunities to close their skills gaps effectively.
With the use of JobKred’s Lithium platform, CARE Singapore can expect several positive outcomes. Staff will have clearer visibility of the skills required for their roles and career progression, empowering them to take greater ownership of their professional development. The personalized learning recommendations will make upskilling more targeted and efficient, increasing engagement in self-directed learning. Managers will also have better insights into team capabilities and development needs, enabling more strategic talent planning. Overall, the platform supports building a more skilled, motivated, and future-ready workforce aligned with CARE Singapore’s goals.
“The Lithium platform provides up-to-date skills data that promotes self-directed learning, while significantly reducing the need for manual updates when skills requirements change. It also gives our organisation and department leaders clear visibility into the skills needed for each role, enabling more strategic workforce planning.” - Khairul Iqram, Learning and Development Manager
