Q&A with Chin Yee Chan
What is the toughest group that you’ve had to get cooperation from? Describe how you handled it. What was the outcome?
I once worked in a committee of Music Express (a song-composing competition) with a position of stage manager. Stage manager is a position which is under production team and it probably has the biggest conflict with the team of publication& publicity as the team of production and publication& publicity have very different working activities and trains of thought. However, it was necessary for an event to be held. Production team needed to come out with a series of programme, at the same time we needed to liaise with various partners and external organizations such as contestants, judges and also special performing guests. However, the team of publication&publicity sometimes had requests which involved the contestants and special performing guests to cooperate with their publicity activities which are out of capability as resources were limited. I talked to both teams - the production team which I’m in and the team of publication&publicity at length about how the synergy between us will help the event and we will be able to hold a successful competition and performance that people actually will love to buy the tickets. In the end, we did it perfectly after a long run-in period.
