Q&A with Alexander Lim
Give an example to illustrate how you have improved the experience of 1.) your internal customers, and 2.) your external customers. How did you determine improvement was needed and how have you determined the effectiveness of the improvement.
In my past experience both of this situation can be dealt with by having a good communication. My job as a tutor also required me to arrange my next session with my students and update the admin about the date and time chosen. Initially there was a lot of miscommunication as I only use verbal communication. Once I found out that it's not working, I started scheduling my time in a time table and make it easier for them to understand. As for the external customers, I am always keep them up to date with the students progress and keep them feedback constantly to maintain a good relationship with them.
Tell about a specific time you sought specific feedback on your performance from subordinates. Specifically, how did you use the feedback? Cite specific changes resulting from the feedback?
When I first started my job as a tutor, I have no experience in teaching at all. The only way for me to improve is by taking feedback from my subordinates when I was teaching. The commented on the ways I explains things to the student and help me realized on the things I did wrong. I then took the initiate to come up with a more creative way to explains concept to students for example by using a story, mind map or sometimes even video. I realized not all student accept information the same way that's why I have to come up with different method for different student.
